I learn a lot. You’re probably just like me. The fact that you’re reading this post proves you’re learning.

But, my question for you is this, “Do you feel you learn so much but implement a little?”

Are you so obsessed with developing yourself that it yet appears there’s no significant improvement in your life? If that’s the case, you need to jack up your implementation to match how much you learn.

The truth is, many people battle this issue. I’ve been there too. But not anymore. That’s the more reason I can share this with you!

The first thing you need to do is to get to understand the difference between learning and implementation.

Learning and Implementation — Understanding Their Differences

Growth follows implementation. However, learning precedes it. If you have a growth mindset, you will implement whatever you learn.

Hence, when you learn, the next thing is to implement, and then growth emerges.

But the problem is that, just like me, in the past, you’d thought that learning produces the same result that comes from implementation. But come to know that, while both are actions, the effects differ. Now, let me break down both terms for you.

What is Learning?

Learning is all about amassing information. In other words, it’s the process of gaining new knowledge, understanding, skills, values, and attitudes.

In learning, you’re open to fresh ideas. You understand new concepts. As it’s often said, “learning is fun.” Learning moments are usually exciting.

Now, what’s implementation?

Implementation — What It Is

Implementation is to act on what you’re learning. Let me digress a bit.

My coach often tells me, “the best time to implement is at the point of learning.” I was slow in putting that to practice. It later dawned on me that I had only been learning a lot and was very slow at implementing things I learned. As a result, I made very little progress.

Back on what implementation is,

Implementation is the execution of learning. That is, to practice what you’ve learned. It goes beyond just learning. It’s an active part of the learning process that leads to the actual results.

As I stated earlier, implementation involves taking active steps in every aspect of what you learn. For instance, in learning to write a descriptive essay, one of the ways you’ll learn is with guidelines. But until you use the guides, you’ve not implemented them yet. You’ve only learned.

Now, bringing both learning and implementation together, what do we have?

Bringing Learning And Implementation Together

Learning without implementation is useless. Hence, both must happen concurrently. Learning should not overtake implementation. In the same breadth, implementing must not override learning too. In other words, if you think you’ve learned enough and focus on just implementing, you tend to abandon learning. You mustn’t allow that to happen. When you implement as you learn you’d have results.

You must continually implement as quickly as you learn. That’s the focus of this article.

The 7 Powerful Reasons Why You Must Always Implement As Quickly As You Learn

In this section, I’ve put together 7 powerful reasons that will help you see why you must always implement as quickly as you learn.

1. You Will Make Attempt

One of the vital reasons why you must always implement as quickly as you learn is that you will make attempts in the process. You will know your ability when you try.

Note that trying is a function of implementation and not learning. Until you attempt you’ve not learned. Ensure you attempt to practice the things you learn always.

With time, learning without implementation will take you back to where you started, just like one who knows nothing.

2. You Will Unlearn

Now, another reason why you must always implement as quickly as you learn is the need to unlearn.

There are things you might have learned wrongly. In such cases, it takes conscious effort to unlearn, that is, to drop whatever you’ve always known to take on new knowledge.

Without a doubt, that demands your attention and practice. It’s not going to happen passively but actively.

If you don’t unlearn, you’ll only learn to know, and using what you learn will be an uphill struggle. The reason is that you’ve got a feeling that you know something already.

I discovered recently that one of the hindrances to learning is the inability to lay aside residual knowledge to take up new knowledge.

To be able to implement, you must learn to unlearn.

3. You Will Relearn

For implementation to take place, you need to relearn. That means, having unlearned things, the process of taking on a new understanding is relearning.

It’s the desire to implement that makes you unlearn. It further makes you relearn. To unlearn comes first, and then to relearn follows.

None of these will happen without a strong desire to implement whatever you learned.

4. You Will Practice

Now, here’s the real deal. Many people want results. But they quickly run away from the drills that’ll bring them. No matter how much you learn, unlearn, and relearn, if you don’t practice constantly, you will not experience growth.

You must have a highly disciplined approach to practicing whatever you learn. You must know your pick-up times. That is the hours of the days that you’re most active. For various reasons, it differs for different people. The factors could range from differences in background, upbringing, and personalities, to lifestyle, culture, or tradition. However, just ensure practice regularly.

5. You Will Make Progress

As I pointed out earlier, progress demands effort. Therefore, implementing things you learn will accumulate gradually to success.

If you fail to implement as quickly as you learn, it will be difficult for you to measure progress. It helps you measure how far you’ve gone. In other words, implementation aids you in tracking your progress. That way, you’re motivated to do more.

6. You Will Grow

When progress becomes measurable, growth is possible and can be measured too. Implementation brings growth. On the other hand, learning without implementation will stunt growth.

A lack of implementation will slow down growth. In business, as an individual, or even as a team, implementing your policies, mission and vision make you unique.

Hence, it’s vital to implement as quickly as you learn to experience massive growth over time.

7. You Will Get Results

And here’s where I’m going. The exact reason why we keep learning.

Why do we learn daily? We want results! We want to reach the top faster and not hit the ground again.

If you implement as quickly as you learn, you will get results. I mean outstanding results. And that’s what I’ve resolved to do. And I’ve been experiencing tremendous changes since I did.

Final Note

Now that you’ve read these powerful reasons why you must implement as quickly as you learn, you should know what to start to do after you leave this page. Start implementing right now!

If you’d get results in any field of learning, you must learn to implement. That way, you’ll succeed faster.
